Keep a safe copy of your photos

Protect memories before a device is lost or replaced.

  1. Choose a backup method with someone you trust: a cloud photo service, a computer, or an external drive. Check any storage fees first.
  2. For cloud backup, confirm the account belongs to you. Use your usual Wi-Fi and keep your device charged while photos upload.
  3. Look for the backup status in your photo app. An unfinished upload or full storage means some photos may not be protected yet.
  4. Check the copy by opening a few photos from the backup location. For treasured photos, keep a separate copy on another device or drive.
  5. Do not delete originals until the copies are checked. Cloud syncing may also copy deletions. Ask for help before clearing space or replacing your phone.
