Meet John Dela Guardia
I’m John, the founder of CyberGuardia Technology & Media Services.
My career began in 1998 in customer service in the Philippines, supporting customers of services such as MSN and AOL through BPO companies. My early experience included SYKES and Smart Communications, followed by PeopleSupport beginning in 2001.
My technology career began in help desk support and network operations in 2001. Since then, I’ve worked with computer systems in healthcare, international newsrooms, and field locations where reliable communications mattered every day.
From 2006 to 2016, I worked with Al Jazeera Media Network, first in IT support and later as an IT and Satellite Newsgathering Field Engineer. My field assignments took me around the world, helping keep computers, networks, satellite equipment, and broadcast systems working during international news coverage.
Working alongside people from different cultures exposed me to different perspectives, ways of communicating, and approaches to solving problems. It taught me to listen before making assumptions, respect differences, and adapt to the people and circumstances in front of me.
That experience still shapes how I work. Whether I’m helping someone reconnect a printer or get comfortable with a new phone, I take time to understand what they need, check the details, and explain the next step clearly.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Computer Networks and Cybersecurity from University of Maryland University College, earned summa cum laude, and an Associate of Applied Science in Cybersecurity from Montgomery College, earned with honors. My background also includes digital forensics, data recovery, and systems administration.
Patient support, shaped by caregiving
Alongside my technology work, I am a Certified Nursing Assistant in Maryland, with a current credential and experience as a private caregiver.
Working with older adults has taught me that the pace of a conversation matters. So does giving someone time to try a task themselves.
During a support session, we start with what you want to do and what is getting in the way. I explain the options, ask before making changes, and leave written steps when they would help. You do not need to know the technical name for the problem.
In my separate caregiving work, I also use locally hosted AI tools to help organize recorded care observations and prepare clear updates for authorized family members. I review the reports myself before sharing them, with attention to the client’s privacy and consent. These tools support documentation and communication; they do not diagnose conditions or replace professional medical judgment.
Help with the things you use every day
We help with phones, tablets, Windows and Mac computers, Wi-Fi, printers, smart TVs, video calls, account settings, photo backups, and accessibility features.
If a message seems suspicious, we can help you review the warning signs and find the organization’s official contact information. For account recovery, we follow the provider’s procedures; you keep control of your passwords and verification codes.
We agree on the work and price before starting. If your question needs a specialist or falls outside what we can provide, we will explain that too.
Tell us what you need help with
You can describe the problem in your own words. We will discuss whether an in-home visit or remote support makes sense and what to do next.
