Install Apps More Safely

An app listing and its permissions are checked before installation.

A few checks before adding an app to your phone or tablet.

  1. Use the official Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Check the publisher’s name carefully; familiar colors or logos can be copied.
  2. Read the full price, trial period, renewal terms, and recent reviews. “Free to download” does not always mean free to use.
  3. Review requested permissions. A simple game should not need your contacts, microphone, location, or financial information without a clear reason.
  4. Do not install remote-control or screen-sharing software because an unexpected caller or message tells you to do so.
  5. Keep trusted apps updated. Delete apps you no longer use, but remember that deleting an app may not cancel its subscription.
